Trend Watch: Fringe and Crotchet

Big trends crochet and fringe are a part of the style for this season. It’s also a big section of the sheer trend for the season. While chiffon is most popular, and lace runs a close second, crochet is making a big push for rock styles. Crochet trimmed with fringe is a big combination within gal, but alone they also make strong looks!

Gilfy

Gilfy wins on originality choosing to eschew the hippy factor and stay with rock influences. The left image is their main catalog and magazine ad image for the season (that shawl is a bit oraora). The skull crochet needs to get in my closet.

Backs

Gilfy’s sister store Backs main trend is fringe and crochet. Their catalog is filled with it and their webstore offers even more selections. Many of their looks are hippy leaning (like the image right), however they do stay within their basic mannish look in most of the styles. I really like how they combine their traditional look of denim with a fringe top. It’s a basic but still trendy. Their loose woven crochet cardigan also stays away from the hippy factor.

Spiral Girl

Spiral Girl has been hippy-leaning in their style this season, but prove crochet can work with in a mode style in the bottom look.

Love Girls Market

I’m actually quite suprised by Love Boat’s hippy sister Love Girl’s Market take on crochet and fringe. The left image is absolutely their style but the hipster metal fringe top on the right isn’t. Either way girls who love hippy and mori gal should check out Love Girls Market this season for their styles.

Egoist

With it being rainy season in Japan, Egoist is smart to use a poncho as cold protection and hiding that damp look. Their loose cardigan (left) is a great look for summer gals who don’t want to show as much arm.

Laguna Moon

Judging by the amount of Laguna Moon shops opening lately, this store is really taking off. A strong fall season went into a strong S/S season and their shop staff are showing off two great ways they’re combining crochet and fringe.

Murua

Favorite store Murua is not disappointing in their loose feminine top with fringe and native inspired shawl that just came out.

Goa

Hippy gal store GOA features crochet and fringe in the loose poncho and vest. Perfect looks for the hot summer festival season in Japan.

Gal iPhone Backgrounds

I’ve had the same backgrounds for months and I really needed a change! The problem is other than Liz Lisa, Ma*rs, and Cocolulu, no other companies have put out iPhone backgrounds, so I had to look on the internet for some good ones. I thought I’d share my results and also post the Liz Lisa and Ma*rs iPhone backgrounds. Designs were taken from clothing, accessories, and website pictures.
All are 480 x 320 which is the traditional iPhone size.
